When everyone picks up a good book, and all things go quiet and cozy, I am reminded of life’s very simple gifts.

I love the fall, bringing us all her comforts. She adorns our homes with blanket wrapped reading nooks and sweet autumn lit candles. She inspires us to fill our jars with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.

As our family grows older, I have begun to treasure the moments when our older ones join us in the evening’s winding down. We used to wrangle them to bed, now they join us in their own relaxing rhythm. The sun is down and so it gives us this gift of togetherness.
It’s truly, a new found joy.

I imagine, many years from now it will continue. The together gifts might look like drop in visits and long conversations, game nights and college laundry, job interviews and a place to crash. Or just the need for mom’s homemade lasagna and the smell of home…and it might still be, a quiet night of reading. Whatever it is…I welcome it, and all the simple gifts that come with it.
Can you see the simple gifts in your day?

…I wonder what they might be?
